What do I need Hexagon for? For that matter, what do I need Silo for? Silo's price is over $150 and doesn't even come with a GUI. So what is out there that comes close to modo that I might be missing? SoftimageXSI? Maybe. But I've looked at its GUI and I've seen it all before. Just a mess. Lightwave's GUI is a mess, too. Cinema4D's GUI looks like a cross between Ray Dream Designer and Rhino3D. What about Truespace? Too much GUI.

Then there are the Maya and 3D Studio Max packages that are overkill for my general interest hobby.

I'm still hanging onto Amapi Pro 7.5 for NURBS modeling. You never know when you might need it. TurboCAD is another NURBS modeler I may need. SpaceClaim, which I don't have, looks like a very nice combination of the two. I'm hanging onto Poser still. Probably for doing stand-ins for my outdoor renders done in Vue Infinite.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-06T01:33:16Z</dcterms:modified>
